Postalco All Leather Snap Pad – Crossgrain Leather, Emerald Green, A5

The Postalco All Leather Snap Pad is the most considered version of the Snap Pad system — the same patented snap binding and refillable format, now wrapped entirely in leather inside and out. The Crossgrain leather takes its name from the pattern of crossing lines embossed on the surface during tanning — a practical choice as much as an aesthetic one, since the texture causes minor scratches that accumulate with use to blend into the overall surface rather than standing out against it. Over time the leather develops its own depth and patina in a way that a smooth finish would not.

The leather is steer hide, vegetable-tanned using tannins derived from the mimosa tree — a slower, more considered process than chrome tanning that avoids the toxic compounds the latter requires. The interior is lined in pigskin, which feels substantially better against the hand than a fabric lining and will outlast it considerably. Emerald Green is a deep, saturated colour that sits somewhere between forest and jewel — vivid enough to be distinctive without being difficult to pair with other objects on a desk. The Snap Pad holds approximately 100 sheets of A5 paper — compatible with all Postalco A5 refills including Pin-graph, Steno Paper, and Snap Pockets. Handmade in Japan.
