Field Notes "Paletas" Memo Book – Pack A (Summer 2026, 71st Quarterly Edition)

On the most sweltering days of summer, there is nothing like a paleta. The fruit-filled frozen treat on a stick has cooled down sweltering summer days across Mexico and the United States for generations, tracing back to the 1940s when three cousins from Tocumbo, Michoacán opened a small paletería in Mexico City and built a franchise network that carried paletas north of the border. Field Notes' 71st Quarterly Edition for Summer 2026 takes that tradition and translates it into three pocket notebooks — each one named, coloured, and finished to evoke a specific flavour.

Pack A brings three flavours to life: Chicle in blue, Sandía in red, and Queso Crema in white. The covers are printed on 12pt WestRock Tango C1S cover stock and finished with two layers of varnish — a shiny gloss and a frosty matte — that together recreate the tactile quality of a paleta wrapper in a way that has to be held to be fully appreciated. Each cover features a transparent backing card illustrated by Chicago Chicanx artist Atlan Arceo-Witzl in the style of a classic paleta wrapper, with Spanish specifications and a centimetre ruler on the front. Inside, 48 cream-coloured pages of 60 lb Domtar Lynx paper carry a light 3/16" dot-graph grid in cream, suited to notes, lists, sketches, and journaling. Limited edition of 12,000 packs of Pack A.
