The hexagonal cedar body is finished in a matte cream lacquer that matches the ivory tone of MD Paper, giving the pencil a quiet, cohesive presence that suits the unhurried, considered quality of the MD range. The only text on the barrel is a discreet engraving reading "MD PAPER PRODUCTS" — no grade markings, no flourishes, nothing that competes with the simplicity of the object itself.
The B grade graphite is the natural choice for the MD Pencil's intended use — soft enough to write and sketch with a fluid, expressive feel, and dark enough to read clearly on MD Paper's cream-toned surface. It pairs particularly well with the MD Notebook's smooth, fountain pen-friendly paper, which brings out the depth and expressiveness of a soft lead as well as any paper in the range.
