Yamamoto Paper

Yamamoto Paper was founded in Sakai, Osaka in 1972, and has spent decades building an unusually deep understanding of paper — its weight, texture, absorbency, and the way different surfaces respond to different inks and instruments. In 2005, drawing on that accumulated knowledge, the company began producing its own original stationery. The result is a line of notebooks and paper products that put the material itself front and centre — chosen not for convention but for how it actually feels and performs in use. The Ro-Biki Note series, introduced in 2010, is the clearest expression of that philosophy: a slim, pocket-friendly notebook with a wax kraft cover that ages into something personal, filled with New Chiffon Cream paper selected specifically for its compatibility with the full range of writing instruments, from pencils and ballpoints to fountain pens and dip pens. Yamamoto Paper does not make many things, but what it makes, it makes with a considered attention to quality that is immediately apparent the moment pen meets page.
