Toyo Steel Co., Ltd. was founded in 1969 in Osaka, Japan by Keiyu Hisashi, with a focus that was at the time narrowly practical: metal stamping services for the surrounding community. What set the company apart early on was a manufacturing breakthrough that nobody else had managed — a deep drawing technology that made it possible to form a seamless steel toolbox from a single sheet of steel, a first in the world. No welds, no joints, no weak points — just one continuous piece of material pressed into shape with precision. The result was a box that aged the way good tools do: developing character with use rather than falling apart under it. That approach has since earned Toyo Steel both the Good Design Award and the Long Life Design Award, recognitions that reflect what the company has always understood — that an object made well enough becomes something people keep.
